How many hours of running time will 1 ( one) cubic meter of liquid hydrogen , provide for a 45Kw engine? - motor sailers for sale
I am designing an energy crop premium powered electric 'motor yacht ", which are stored as liquid hydrogen. I should be Cacula the approximate size of the tank.

Well, not quite, but I think it would be a start, use this number and to determine the density of the mass. From there, I'm sure you could find a line number for the amount of energy can be produced per gram.
ReplyDeleteThe energy released by combustion of hydrogen, 286 kJ / mol,
ReplyDeleteand the molecular weight is 2g/mol.
We therefore 143 kJ / g.
The density of liquid hydrogen is 70 kg / m 3
1 m3 to 10 010 mJ release of hydrogen combustion engines.
Well, 1 watt = 1 J / s, then 45 kW = 45 kJ / s and 1 hours, you will use 45kj / s * 3600s = 162 000 kJ = 1.620 MJ of energy
Now, the engine power of less than 100%
You can obtain a 50%
So with 3240 mJ / h (x2) for efficiency
1 m ^ 3 of liquid H2 will then have a period of 10 010/3240 = 3 hours.
Will be longer if the yield is higher (5.5 hours for 90% efficiency)
